Focus on Quality

For over 50 years, Nature’s Sunshine has been recognized among the industry leaders for high-quality dietary supplements.

Nature’s Sunshine has been recognized as the industry standard for high-quality supplements for over 50 years. The company is revolutionizing the way herbal and nutritional supplements are made by constantly investing in scientific research, innovation and clinical trials.

The Hughes Center for Research and Innovation is Nature’s Sunshine’s hub of new product development and utilizes advanced technology to verify the identity, purity and potency of individual constituents to create synergistic combinations of ingredients and unique formulations that will undergo clinical studies to confirm their safety and efficacy. It brings together the expertise of accomplished scientists, world-renowned chemists, biologists, researchers, and medical specialists to pursue scientific discovery and advancement. By analyzing interactions between the body’s systems and nutritional supplements at a molecular level, this research facility helps scientists find the most effective and bioactive formulations.

Molecular Biology Laboratory

Microbiological testing is essential to ensure the high quality and safety of products. Any type of raw material is tested in a microbiological laboratory, that allows the company to accurately and reliably determine of the total number of microorganisms: yeasts, molds and pathogens.

The laboratory tests the company’s anaerobic products as well to ensure that the amount of anaerobic substances contained in the final product exactly matches the amount indicated on the label.

Chemistry Laboratory

Quantitative analysis and identification of phytochemicals in herbal samples. The laboratory has all the necessary equipment for testing vitamins and raw materials such as CoQ10. High pressure liquid chromatography is primarily used to test such materials. Through HPLC testing, laboratory staff can test raw materials for purity and potency. The chromatograph is also used to determine whether the content of the finished product matches the information on the label.

Mineral Substances Laboratory

The mineral laboratory analyzes any product that has to be tested for the presence of minerals or for mineral contamination. Laboratory equipment determines whether minerals are present and in what amounts, as well as whether raw materials, including medicinal plants, contain unwanted contaminants like arsenic, lead, aluminum, and cadmium. An electronic detector is used in order to check for dangerous contaminants like pesticides and mercury in medicinal plants and other raw materials.

We don't guess. We test. We guarantee.

Our manufacturing facility consists of four quality assurance labs, each of which plays a specific role in ensuring product quality. Our scientists have more than 600 unique tests at their disposal to ensure the quality, purity, and potency of all raw materials and finished products. Both raw materials and finished products undergo up to 10 days of testing. We spend about $1 million per year on quality testing alone.
